Veil
Partial revelation; mystery, the threshold of knowing.
SufiHinduJungian
The veil is partial revelation — a truth made approachable by being partly hidden. Sufi tradition uses the veil (hijab in its mystical sense) as the many layers between the soul and the Beloved. Hindu tradition speaks of maya, the veil of appearance that conceals the unity beneath. Jungian analysis treats the dream-veil as a truth the psyche is approaching slowly. A veil lifted in a dream marks a realization moving toward consciousness; a veil refused, a truth still protected. Notice who wears the veil, whose hand reaches for it, and whether it is light or heavy fabric.
