Remembering Your Dreams
Remembering your dreams can help you get to know yourself better at a subconscious level. Discovering the secrets in your dreams can help you solve problems in your waking life and help you grow and mature. Examining and interpreting your dreams can help you to realize your life dreams and how to acheive them.
How do you remember your dreams?
1) Get enough sleep!
The first key to remembering your dreams is to get enough sleep. How much is enough? Well, you should be able to wake up without an alarm clock. You dream every night, but if you don't get enough sleep, you will not remember them.
2) Get on a sleep schedule
Start going to bed and waking up at the same time. Your body will get used to the same sleep pattern and it will make it easy for you to remember your dreams.
3) Keep a dream journal
Keep a journal by your bed and start writing down everything you can remember about your dreams. Upon wakening, don't move, don't get out of bed, just try to recall everything about your dreams. It only takes a few moments to completely forget your dreams if you don't make an effort to retain them. Think not only about the content of the dream but about colors, people , feelings and smells. Write down every detail you can remember and if you start doing this every night, you will be amazed at how much you start to recall.
4) Tell yourself to remember your dreams
Each night before going to bed, tell yourself you want to remember your dreams. This tells your subconscious that your dreams are important to you and this simple act will do wonders for your dream recollection.
We train ourselves to forget our dreams as soon as the day starts. But by focusing on your dreams, trying to recall them and telling yourself to recall them, you will start to remember dreams every night.
Try this excercise before going to bed tonight and you will most likely have better dream recollection immediately:
Repeat a phrase while laying in bed that is similar to the following, "I will remember all of my dreams tonight in perfect deatil upon wakening". It may sound silly but it works, try it for just a few nights and see for yourself.
5) Focus on your dreams
Lastly, just be interested in and focus on your dreams. Think about them, try to find their meaning, discuss them with friends. The more you focus on your dreams, the more of them you will recall and the more fun you can have with lucid dreaming, dream interpretation, and dream suggestions.
